Gateshead goalkeeper Paul Musselwhite has announced he will retire from the club's playing staff at the end of the Blue Square North season.
Musselwhite, 40, has made over 700 appearances for a string of clubs, and will link up with League Two side Lincoln City next season as a coach.
"I have had a great career with lots of highs and thoroughly enjoyed myself," said the former Port Vale and Hull man.
"Time catches up with everyone, and I have to build up my coaching career."
His manager at Gateshead, Ian Bogie, is a former Vale team-mate of the veteran goalkeeper and paid his own tribute.
"Paul has been a top-class goalkeeper for two decades. He answered our call last year and has done well," he said.
