Clarets coach remains confident

Chelmsford City

Chelmsford City assistant manager Glenn Pennyfather is confident they have still have a chance to win the Blue Square South title this season.

The Clarets were beaten 3-1 by AFC Wimbledon on Saturday and are now three points behind them in the table.

But Pennyfather told BBC Essex: "There are going to be a lot more twists and turns in the rest of the season and there's a lot more points to play for.

"We've just got to make sure we lift the lads back up."

He added: "The players were obviously very disappointed, but they know we can still go on and win this league."

Pennyfather was also keen to point out that other teams were still in with a shout of the single automatic promotion place, aside from themselves and their south London rivals.

We both have to kick-on, because if we keep dropping points they will catch us up

Both Hamtpon & Richmond and Eastleigh are six points behind the Essex side.

"We both have to kick-on, because if we keep dropping points they will catch us up, because they keep winning games," he explained.

"Both of the those sides are consistent at the moment and I think we have got to play them in the next two games and they're tough matches."

Chelmsford travel to Eastleigh on Saturday.
