Harrogate Town manager Neil Aspin has criticised skipper Darren Dunning for the manner of his dismissal during last weekend's 4-1 defeat at Alfreton.
The 28-year-old midfielder was shown two yellow cards, one of which was for dissent, and he is suspended for the game against Stalybridge on 31 January.
Aspin told BBC Radio York: "I never used to get booked for dissent.
"I can accept bookings for a hard challenge but for dissent there's no excuse and it's a real waste."
Aspin added: "It's costing us dearly - not only in the game but in the two weeks later when we're without players."
Defender Ryan Toulson is also banned for the Stalybridge match after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season.
