Leamington have gone 15 points clear at the top of Southern League Midlands Division after Tuesday night's 2-0 win at local rivals Nuneaton Town.
Mark Bellingham and Jamie Lenton got the goals for the Brakes.
And, although second-placed Nuneaton still have a game in hand, manager Kevin Wilkin concedes that overhauling the Brakes is now be a very tough task.
"I would be surprised if anyone catches them now", Wilkin told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire.
Leamington, who are still unbeaten in the league this season after 22 matches, now head to Stourport on Saturday.
One other local derby on Tuesday took place on Tuesday night.
Racing Club Warwick lost 2-0 at home to Coleshill Town.
Bedworth United suffered a 4-1 defeat away at Bromsgrove, Studley lost 4-3 in a seven-goal thriller game at Market Drayton and Coventry Sphinx drew 1-1 against Coalville.
Atherstone's encounter against Chasetown was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
