Redditch ready for Moors double

Redditch United manager Garry Whild says their Christmas derby opponents Solihull Moors are closer to the Reds in more ways than one.

The teams clash at the Valley on Boxing Day with the return on New Year's Day, and Whild told BBC Hereford and Worcester he knows all about the Moors.

"They are the closet to us in terms of of distance and we are often vying for the same players," he said.

"I think were are both doing well to even keep our clubs in this league."

Whild has seen a lot of players leave in recent weeks, as he has had to cut his playing budget, but hopes that the experienced Scott Rickards will be in the holiday line-up.

"He's aware of the club from being here in the past, so hopefully he'll stay with us, and he's got a bit to offer," Whild said.

"With the situation we are in at the moment we need a few bodies and it would be great to have him on board."
