AFC Telford United defender Jimmy Turner has started an intense training programme with the aim of playing football again by October.
Turner had a routine knee operation during the summer but developed an infection, putting him out of action for three months.
"Hopefully I'll be back training in four weeks and another two weeks after to start playing again," said Turner.
"I want to do more and get back fit. "It's feeling better now."
Telford have allowed two of their other injured defenders out this weekend in a bid to get match fitness.
Asa Charlton plays for Shifnal, while Simon Forsdick turns out for Nuneaton.
The Bucks travel to Redditch on Saturday, then take on Alfreton Town at the New Bucks Head on Bank Holiday Monday.
