Turner will definitely miss the start of the Blue Square North season
AFC Telford United defender Jimmy Turner could be sidelined for at least three months.
The 24-year-old developed an infection in his knee after having a minor operation several weeks ago.
The full-back had a second clean-up operation last week after he noticed a swelling on his knee.
Bucks assistant manager Larry Chambers said: "The results from the blood test show the infection was generated by Jimmy's own body."
He continued: "He was kept under observation until the weekend. He's devastated.
"We're all really disappointed for Jimmy. He's been told to have complete rest for two weeks. He could be out for 10 to 12 weeks."
Chambers told BBC Radio Shropshire he is waiting for manager Rob Smith to return from his holiday to consider making a new signing.
Telford returned to pre-season training at the weekend and defenders Indy Khela and Simon Forsdick completed a full training session. Both players struggled with injuries last season.
