Merritt is set to give his existing players a chance

Oxford City boss Justin Merritt says he is not ready to overhaul his first team in favour of the new blood coming into the club.

Merritt told BBC Oxford: "We will keep the nucleus of last year with some additions."

The City boss said he was happy with the make up of his squad.

"Although we've got some [players] that are experienced, we've also got some that have got the youth and energy and desire," he added.

Merritt said he was not overly concerned with the challenges of playing in the Southern League Premier after promotion last year.

"There is undoubtedly a jump, but we know a lot of the sides already," he said.
