Torquay United have signed midfielder Tyrone Thompson from Blue Square Premier rivals Crawley Town.
Thompson, 27, has signed a two-year contract with the Gulls.
The midfielder, who has played wide and up front in his 50 appearances for Crawley, started his career with Sheffield United.
Gulls manager Paul Buckle said: "Crawley had offered Tyrone a contract along with quite a few other clubs, but he has chosen Torquay."
Thompson joined Crawley from Halifax Town in June despite strong interest from a number of clubs, including Torquay.
He has also played for Lincoln, Doncaster, Huddersfield and Scarborough.
Buckle said the fact that Thompson had chosen Torquay this time said a lot about his club.
Thompson had been expected to sign a new deal with Crawley Town.
But their manager Steve Evans said they could not match the money he was being offered elsewhere.
"He has been a super player for us and the fact he would have still signed speaks volumes for his character," Evans said.
"We wish him luck and although he leaves he will always be welcome back."
