Curwood is happy with developments at Fleetwood

Fleetwood Town have agreed deals with eight players ahead of the club's first season in Blue Square North.

Ricky Mercer, Shaun Beeley, Andy Bell and Danny Hurst have all extended their contracts, alongside Phil Denney, Phil Robinson, Alex Taylor and Mike Hale.

Chief executive Steve Curwood said: "It has been an extremely positive couple of weeks since the season ended.

"A high number of quality players have phoned our manager (Tony Greenwood) saying they are keen to join us."

Curwood added: "Potential players are now aware of our success and ambition, which is a change from us having to sell the club to them.

"The club expect to make progress with some of these players, along with others who have been identified," he said.

"Tony Greenwood will certainly strengthen the squad with new blood as he continues to prepare for the challenge of Blue Square North football next season."

Michael Brown, Jerome Watt, Jez Fitzgerald and Martin Moran have not had their contracts renewed.
