Wes Parker has joined his hometown club from Gainsborough Trinity
Boston United have made their first signing of the summer, with defender Wes Parker joining his hometown club from Gainsborough Trinity.
The Pilgrims first tried to sign Parker from their Blue Square North rivals at the beginning of last season but could not because of contractual reasons.
Boston manager Tommy Taylor told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "I'm really happy that we've got the player we wanted.
"The most important signing is the first, then others will want to sign."
Taylor's opposite number at Gainsborough, Steve Charles, admitted that losing the highly rated centre-half to their County rivals was a blow.
"I've tried everything to keep Wes at Gainsborough Trinity," said Charles. "But his contract is up so he's free to do whatever he wanted.
"He's a Boston lad and he's always wanted to play for them. Unfortunately I couldn't do anything to tempt him to stay."
