AFC Telford United boss Rob Smith has said his team need four points out of the remaining three games to secure a Blue Square North play-off place.

Smith fielded four injured players on Saturday against Kettering, who won 3-0 to clinch the title and promotion.

"We're not going to hide, we need four or five points and we're capable of doing that," Smith said.

"I thought in the second half we were brave and gave it a real go, but congratulations to Kettering."

Telford were up against it after the Poppies secured a two-goal lead within the first 24 minutes.

Smith could be forced to play midfielder Jamie Vermiglio, who broke his leg in February and has not yet fully recovered.

"I'm in a situation where I think I'm just going to throw him in. He felt alright in training, I know there's a risk if he gets another knock."

Telford play Harrogate Town on Saturday at the new Bucks Head.

"I think we'll get into the play-offs with a win next week."
