AFC Telford United's Jamie Vermiglio could be out for the rest of the season.
An X-ray on the toe he broke at the start of February has shown it has not healed as expected.
"It's frustrating," the midfielder told BBC Radio Shropshire. "There's a bit of an ache in it, but I feel fine and want to be back in the team."
Vermiglio could miss the whole of Telford's crucial run-in as they chase promotion from the Blue Square North.
Since joining the Bucks from Scarborough in the summer, Vermiglio has been an influential playmaker in Telford's season.
"The doctors weren't happy with what they saw, but they'll have another look in a couple of weeks," said Telford assistant manager Larry Chambers.
"It's very disappointing news."
