| Thursday, 13 February, 2003, 00:51 GMT Margate 0-2 Hereford Hereford have climbed into third place in the Conference with a confident win at Margate. Michael Rose put the visitors ahead on the half-hour mark before Paul Parry sealed the three points with a last-minute strike. The Bulls were rarely troubled throughout the 90 minutes as Chris Kinnear's side struggled to find their best form. Graham Turner's men had looked the more likely to score from the whistle and it was no surprise when Rose put them ahead before the break. Rose found himself in acres of space as Margate's defence capitulated and he smashed home a stunning long-range effort into the bottom right-hand corner. Hereford continued their dominance throughout the second half and would have stretched their lead but for the acrobatics of Margate goalkeeper Phil Smith. His best save of the night saw him keep out a 25-yard John Grant free-kick. But, despite his best efforts, he could do nothing when Parry shook off his marker and finished off with style from 18 yards. Margate: Smith, Edwards, Sodje, Leberl, Oates, Clarke, Keister, Saunders, Beard, Braithwaite, Collins. Hereford: Baker, Tretton, Wright, James, Rose, Pitman, Smith, Purdey, Lovett, Grant, Parry. Referee: S Rubery (Ilford). |
