| Thursday, 13 February, 2003, 01:00 GMT Farnborough 2-2 Hereford Daniel Williams struck a stunning equaliser 10 minutes from time to earn Hereford a draw and deny Ian McDonald a second successive win as Farnborough caretaker manager. Williams found the top right-hand corner of Tony Pennock's goal with a fine volley as Farnborough - 3-2 winners over Telford in the FA Trophy last Saturday - had to settle for a point at Cherrywood Road. McDonald, whose playing resources are such that he could name only four substitutes, took an 18th-minute lead through Rocky Baptiste. He made no mistake with the rebound after after his initial effort had come back off the woordwork. Gary Patterson doubled the hosts' advantage just after the half-hour mark with a well-placed header. But Jamie Pitman's fine left-footed strike from 20 yards laid the platform for an impressive Hereford comeback. Farnborough: Pennock, Chris Piper, Annon, Lee, Taggart, Lenny Piper, Patterson, Butterworth, Baptiste, Charlery, Vansittart. Subs: Osborn, Green, Girvan, Potter. Hereford: Baker, Rose, Wright, James, Lovett, Williams, Pitman, Smith, Parry, Guinan, Grant. Subs: Griffiths, Teesdale, Sawyers, Husbands, O'Kelly. Referee: K Woolmer (Kettering). |
