Weatherstone saves England
Simon Weatherstone of Boston
Weatherstone was playing on his home ground
Boston midfielder Simon Weatherstone earned England's National Game XI a last-gasp draw against Wales in their opening game of the UniBond Four Nations Tournament.

Wales went ahead after 77 minutes when Carmarthen Town's Neil O'Brien headed past Chester keeper Wayne Brown.

But substitute Weatherstone, a late call-up to England's semi-professional squad, preserved manager John Owens' unbeaten five-year record with an injury-time goal.

Playing on his own ground at York Street he beat Dagenham keeper Tony Roberts from 20 yards with virtually the last kick of the match.

Republic of Ireland, managed by former Notts County and Carlisle midfielder Don O'Riordan, lead the group after beating Scotland 2-0 at Kettering Town.

Portadown striker Vinny Arkins, the Irish League Player of the Year, and Trevor Molloy scored for the Republic.

Remaining Fixtures:

Thursday 16th May: England v Rep. of Ireland (Boston Utd), Scotland v Wales (Kettering Town).

Saturday 18th May: Wales v Rep. of Ireland (Boston Utd), England v Scotland (Kettering Town).
