Algeria fans are delighted to have qualified for the 2011 CHAN

Algeria have qualified for the 2011 African Nations Championship (CHAN) finals despite losing 2-1 away to Libya on Saturday.

The home-based Desert Foxes qualify for the tournament to be held in Sudan on away goals rule.

The Algerians beat Libya 1-0 in the first leg of the final qualifier last month.

Hosts Sudan, defending champions DR Congo, Mali, Senegal, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Niger and Cameroon have booked places at the 16-nation championship scheduled for next January and February.

The remaining seven slots will be filled a week before the World Cup kicks off on 11 June in South Africa.

The biennial Nations Championship is restricted to footballers playing in their country of birth.
