Nigeria striker Obafemi Martins is aiming to be fit for next month's Africa Cup of Nations despite recently undergoing surgery on his troubled shin.
Martins, who plays for Wolfsburg in the German Bundesliga, says he is recovering well and should be fit to play at the Nations Cup.
Despite his injury, Martins was named in coach Shuaibu Amodu 's 32 man provisional squad for the tournament.
Last month Martins scored two goals in the 3-2 win over Kenya that saw the Super Eagles qualify for next year's World Cup in South Africa.
Speaking to the BBC, Martins said he had been playing with his injury all that time.
"I've been suffering with the injury for the past six or seven months," he said.
"Even when I was at Newcastle I was still playing with the injury."
Martins says he's happy with the operation and believes he will be ready for the Nations Cup.
"I'm happy now that it's done. It's still not a hundred percent, but I really want to go to the Nations Cup."
Martins also says the present crop of Super Eagles players are going to Angola to try and win the tournament.
