The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are looking to English Premier League side Everton for help ahead of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

NFF president Sani Lulu Abdullahi said the move comes following concerns raised by senior players.

"We had a fruitful meeting with our senior players in England where suggestions of an additional physiotherapist and a physical trainer were highlighted," said Lulu.

"Joseph Yobo indicated that the Everton physical trainer will be available during the World Cup - and sincerely that is an attractive possibility.

"This is a very significant step and we need to reaffirm that whoever is coming to help the team will not be a technical adviser but will only serve in the capacity of a physical trainer.

"Getting that demand sorted is our priority because the national team matters to millions of people."

Nigerian players have often been criticised by fans and local media, who are quick to question the fitness level of the Super Eagles players.

This latest move should calm uncertainty about the strength of the team after a run of lethargic performances during the World Cup qualifiers.

"Both the fans, media, players and officials need to pull together to help boost Nigeria's chances of winning a major tournament." Lulu continued.

"For over three months now we have been searching for a physiotherapist, importantly we need to get somebody who is not only capable but also friendly with the players.

"Positive team spirit, physical presence and a solid preparation should help us succeed in Angola and South Africa."

Meanwhile, officials have revealed that the Nigerian team going to the Africa Cup of Nations will camp in Durban, South Africa from 29 December.

The team will then depart for Angola on 8 January.
