Kingston hoping for Hearts chance

Hearts and Ghana's Laryea Kingston
Laryea Kingston wants to get back into the Hearts team

Laryea Kingston is hoping that playing a full game for Ghana over the weekend will prove he is ready to return for his Scottish club Hearts.

Ghana lost the 2010 World Cup qualifier in Benin 1-0 but Kingston is just happy to have played the full game.

"It's a long time since I played 90 minutes, I'm very happy I have proved my match fitness," he told BBC Sport.

"I've sorted things with my club and especially the manager and I'm hoping he's going to give me time to play."

Kingston was at the centre of a club versus country row after he played for the Black Stars against Sudan last month in a World Cup qualifier despite not having played for Hearts due to injury.

He insists that the problems are a thing of the past and he is ready to prove himself for Hearts.

"I wanted to prove to him [Hearts manager Csaba Laszlo] that I'm fit," he explained.

"I'm the type of person if you have confidence in me I'm going to deliver for you.

"It's important for him to have confidence in me.

"I'm going back and I'm going to work hard in training and I'll wait until the coach gives me a chance again.

"If I'm there and I'm proving myself in training it depends on him if he can put me in the game - I cannot challenge him."

The midfielder admitted it was tough when there was a lot written in the media about his decision to play for Ghana against Sudan.

"It was a very difficult moment for me but they got me wrong but I also understand what they wrote," he said.

"They hadn't seen me playing because I was injured but then I was fit three weeks before the Sudan game but the manager didn't want me to play.

"I was training but wasn't picked.

"The fans had it in their mind that I wasn't fit but then when I got to the national team I was fit - but I was fit for three weeks before I left for the national team."
