Prince Tagoe signed for Hoffenheim only in June 2009
Ghana striker Prince Tagoe has had his contract cancelled by his new German club Hoffenheim.
Hoffenheim say health issues - alleged to be heart problems - mean they cannot risk playing him.
But the player is disputing the diagnosis, saying that a second opinion has given him the all-clear.
Hoffenheim say they have seen no evidence of a second opinion but they want to resolve the situation fairly.
Tagoe had been playing in Saudi Arabia in recent years and his move to Germany in June this year was widely seen as a much deserved step into the limelight.
He has started all three of Ghana's matches in the final round of World Cup qualifying.
Football has become much more aware of health issues since the death of Cameroon's Marc-Vivien Foe during the Confederations Cup in France in 2003.
Earlier this month the captain of Spanish club Espanyol, Daniel Jarque, died after suffering a heart attack following a training session.
