Gabon's Daniel Cousin wants Hull to target a place in Europe
Gabon's Daniel Cousin says Hull City's terrific start to the English Premier League season means the club should be targeting a place in Europe.
The Tigers striker told BBC Sport: "I think we should target a Uefa Cup spot. Why not?"
Cousin has scored twice this season with goals against Manchester United and the winner against Arsenal.
"That was a great moment in a great stadium against a great club," the 31-year-old said.
"But in football, it is important to turn the page quickly and perform again and again."
The former Lens and Rangers striker seems to be following his own advice.
Cousin dedicated his goal against Manchester United the goal to his new-born daughter, Leah.
Unfortunately, it was not the prelude to another stunning win for the Yorkshire side as the champions held on to take a 4-3 victory, on Saturday.
While Cousin continues to help Hull make a mark in the English Premier League, at the back of his mind is the final qualifying phase for the 2010 World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations.
Gabon will face Cameroon, Morocco and Togo in Group A which starts in March next year and Cousin thinks they have a tough challenge ahead.
"We are in a difficult group, but we'll play our best and hope we pull off a surprise," he said.
"It will be very tough to make it to the World Cup because only the top team can qualify.
"Our priority is to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations."
It has been eight years since Gabon took part in the Nations Cup finals and the Cousin thinks it is imperative that Gabon are present in Angola in 2010.
"The Nations Cup is very important because in 2012 we will be co-hosts," he added.
