Cameroon's Stephane Mbia has signed a new deal at Rennes

Cameroon midfielder Stephane Mbia has signed a new one-year deal with French club Rennes.

Mbia claimed in August that he was on the verge of a move to English Premier League side Everton, while he was playing for Cameroon at the Olympics.

Rennes now say they have agreed an improved deal with Mbia for the remainder of the season.

The club also say that he will have the opportunity of securing a transfer away from Rennes at the end of this season
