ITALY

Muntari
Muntari is already making his presence felt at Inter
Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari set the Super Cup final alight with a 18th-minute goal for Inter Milan, who won the trophy.

Inter, now managed by Jose Mourinho, beat AS Roma 6-5 on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

The Super Cup brings together the Serie A champions and Italian Cup winners.

It is a curtain-raiser to the new season, which kicks off this coming weekend.


ENGLAND

Egypt striker Mido came off the bench to unleash a low 30-yard drive to give his side Middlesbrough a 70th minute lead against Liverpool.

But they lost 2-1, with an own goal in the 86th minute followed by Steven Gerrard's late strike.

Mali's Mamady Sidibe snatched a late winner for Stoke City to overcome Aston Villa 3-2.

Nigerian Yakubu Ayegbeni also scored what turned out to be the winner for Everton, who beat West Bromwich Albion 2-1.


BELGIUM

Dieumerci Mbokani
Mbokani has scored four goals already this season

Dieumerci Mbokani continued to find the goals at the weekend when he found the back of the net twice to help give the league leaders and holders Standard Liege a 3-0 win over Westerlo.

The DR Congo striker is the top scorer with four goals after two games in the new season.

Morocco striker Abdesalam Benjelloun scored the only goal of the game as his side Charleroi beat Roulers.

Niger's Moussa Maazou scored the last two goals for Lokeren who beat promoted Tubize 4-1.

Mustapha Jarju from The Gambia sealed victory for Mons in their 3-1 triumph over Racing Genk.


FRANCE

Benin striker Stephane Sessegnon equalised for Paris Saint-Germain to earn his side a point in the 1-1 draw at Sochaux.

It was Sessegnon's first goal this season and also for his new club PSG.

Jean Makoun was on target for league holders Lyon, who beat Grenoble 2-0.

It was the first defeat for the newly-promoted Grenoble, who were leading the league table after two games.

The Cameroon midfielder's 6th-minute goal was his second of the season.

Tunisia defender Antar Yahia scored the only goal of the game with a powerful header as his side nice edged past Auxerre 1-0.


PORTUGAL

Albert Ze Meyong scored for Braga on the opening day of the Portuguese league.

The Cameroon striker opened the scoring three minutes into the second half as Braga defeated Pacos Ferreira 2-0.
