Kadiri Ikhana has made allegations of corruption in Nigerian football
Kano Pillars could be stripped of their first ever Nigerian league title following corruption allegations from their former coach Kadiri Ikhana.
Just a few days after leading Kano Pillars to the title he said that he was quitting the game in the country because of what he alleges is a "corrupt system."
Nigeria Football League (NFL) spokesman Mike Idoko told BBC Sport: "He's entitled to his own opinion about the league but we will not allow anyone to rubbish the solid league we have built.
"He went as far as indicting his own club and has not exonerated them and that is very serious.
"Sincerely, the club [Kano Pillars] risk losing their title if found guilty as well because it is written in our rules and regulations.
The NFL board will meet on 11 June and they have invited Ikhana, who was voted Confederation of African Football Coach of the Year in 2003, to be present.
"He has been invited to come forward with proof and of course to mention names of people that are involved in the corruption," Idoko added.
"The board is not in a rush, they will meet but no one is ready to witch-hunt anyone but rather to address a severe allegation like this present one."
"We have rules and regulations that govern the league and necessary actions will be taken against anyone who tries to bring the name of the league into disrepute.
"We saw what happened in Italy when clubs were found guilty of corruption and we might take similar steps if necessary."
