The Kano Pillars coach has quit despite leading them to the title
The coach who just lead Kano Pillars to their first ever Nigerian League title is quitting the game in the country because of what he alleges is a "corrupt system".

Kadiri Ikhana, who also coached Nigeria's Enyimba to African Champions League success in 2003, says he does not want to be involved in Nigeria football anymore.

Ikhana, who was voted Caf coach of the year in 2003, said his decision came at the end of "an extraordinary professional career."

"I believe that I have achieved what I set out to achieve as coach in the local scene," Ikhana declared.

"Nigerian football is all about robbery. We all cheat with referees but how much longer do we continue with this madness.

"It is not about the money I can be offered by clubs because I am just tired of Nigerian football.

"I want to take a breather. Maybe if I get an offer abroad where there is more sanity in their leagues I will reconsider my stand."

Despite the lure of Champions League football next season with Kano Pillars, Ikhana says nothing will make him change his mind.

"In my days as a player if a club gets a win at home or away, you actually see the efforts put in by the players but it is not the same now," he added.

"Football is played more outside the pitch than inside. It is too bad.

"I do not want to be involved in Nigerian football anymore."
