Financial problems have finally been sorted out and Hey has signed |
New Liberia coach Antoine Hey has finally signed his contract, weeks after agreeing to take over the role. Hey had been due to sign earlier this month, but the deal was held up because of problems over finance.
"I'm quite optimistic and happy that I'm now beginning my new assignment," Hey told the BBC in Monrovia.
Liberia play Sudan this weekend in an international friendly in Khartoum and Hey has named a full compliment of the country's overseas based stars.
"I'm using this match to get familiar with the overseas based players.
"To give everybody a chance to show themselves so it is a mixture of experience and young players.
Hey has also been watching local players and has lined up a friendly next month against Sierra Leone to assess them.
"This game would be mainly for local players, after which I will draw up a list of 25 who will form part of my training camp in Germany on May 12," he said.
Hey has named his fellow German Kemel Halat as his assistant.
His appointment was initially announced earlier in the year, but there were problems over the payment of his salary.
Antoine Hey's first competitive game in charge will be a World Cup qualifier against Gambia at the end of May.
They also face Senegal and Algeria.
