Veteran Brazilian coach Jose Claudinei has been handed the task of steering Zimbabwe to the finals of the 2010 World Cup in neighbouring South Africa.
The 60-year-old, known as Valinhos, was unveiled in the capital Harare by the Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa).
The former coach of Brazil's under-20s replaces Charles Mhlauri who was sacked recently as head of the Warriors' side.
Mhlauri failed to secure Zimbabwe's qualification for the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations.
'Valinhos' has also coached in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Morocco as well as his native Brazil.

His salary will be paid by the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority as part of a 2010 World Cup memorandum of understanding between the tourism body and Zifa.
The Zimbabwean government is hoping to benefit from South Africa's hosting of the 2010 World Cup.
Zimbabwe, who have never qualified for the World Cup finals, have been drawn against Guinea, Namibia and Kenya in the qualifying rounds for the 2010 tournament.
Claudinei adds to the Brazilian flavour in the region with the World Cup-winning coach Carlos Alberto Parreira now in charge of South Africa.
Dynamos coach David Mandigora will assist Claudinei with former Warriors' captain Norman Mapeza.
Former international goalkeeper Brenna Msiska has been installed as the goalkeeper coach.
Zimbabwe finished second in the three-team Nations Cup qualifying Group 12, with four points.
