Charles Mhlauri was sacked as the coach of Zimbabwe in June |
Zimbabwe have named two caretaker coaches to lead the national team for their final Nations Cup qualifier next month.
Former skipper Norman Mapeza and Swiss Marc Duvillard will be in charge of the team for the game against Malawi in Harare.
The duo will replace Charles Mhlauri who was sacked two months ago after the team's chances of qualifying for the 2008 Nations Cup in Ghana faded away.
Zimbabwe are bottom of Group 12, with one point from three games.
The new coaches will have equal roles in the interim coaching set-up with their mandate ending after the game against Malawi on 9 September.
Meanwhile, a substantive coach for the Warriors is expected to be named after the end of the Nations Cup qualifiers.
"We hope to have a substantive coach in by December this year so that he begins his programme with a view to taking us to the 2010 World Cup finals," Zimbabwe FA chief executive Henrietta Rushwaya said.
"We have received a lot of applications, including a number from coaches in England, who want to come here to coach the Warriors and we are considering them."
Zimbabwe qualified for the 2004 and 2006 editions of the Nations Cup, where they beat Ghana 2-1 in a group game.
But the Warriors have been in freefall since, dropping out of the top 20 teams in the African rankings, with a lowly position of 96 in the world.
