Zimbabwe are bottom of Group 12 of the Nations Cup qualifiers

The Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) has dissolved the coaching departments of all its national teams, following a poor run of results across the board.

The purge includes national senior team coach Charles Mhlauri, though there is a possibility that he will still have a role with the Warriors.

Zimbabwe have failed to qualify for the 2008 Nations Cup, and are bottom of their group, with one point from three games.

At the weekend, the women's team was knocked out of the qualifiers for the 2008 Olympic Games, and the under-23, under-20 and under-17 men's teams have also been performing poorly.

Fans have been calling for the head of Mhlauri, but he may still feature when an interim coaching department is named next month for September's Nations Cup qualifier against Malawi.

Ideally, Zifa would like to appoint a foreign coach for the Warriors, something that may prove difficult given the country's economic crisis.

"As we speak now, there is no national team coach at any level," Zifa chief executive Henrietta Rushwaya told BBC Sport.

"We need a foreign coach, if resources permit, but we want to be practical, and Mhlauri hasn't been fired - he still has a contract with us."

Last week, the country's Vice-President, Joseph Msika, spoke out in support of Mhlauri, something that may have helped him to avoid the axe completely.

Zimbabwe qualified for the 2004 and 2006 editions of the Nations Cup, where they beat Ghana 2-1 in a group game.

But the Warriors have been in freefall since, dropping out of the top 20 teams in the African rankings, with a lowly position of 90 in the world.
