Uganda are the first team through to the quarter-finals of this year's Cecafa Challenge Cup in Tanzania.

The Cranes booked their place after a 2-0 win over Rwanda in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday.

The nine-time champions went top of Group B with six points and reached the last eight with a game to spare.

Goals from Simeon Massaba and Congolese-born Hassan Bajobe secured victory for the Ugandans.

In another Group B match played on Tuesday, Eritrea laboured to a 3-2 victory over Djibouti.

After missing a second-minute penalty, Eritrea opened the scoring through Berhane Aregay four minutes later.

Yedkachew Shimangus extended their lead as half-time approached.

Djibouti, who were hammered 7-0 by Uganda in their opening match, pulled one back through Ahmed Dahel.

But Binam Fissehaye extended Eritrea's lead on 68 minutes before Mohammed Kader reduced the deficit six minutes from time.

The tournament continues on Wednesday with two matches in Group A.

Tanzania take on Somalia while Kenya play Burundi.
