Three days after starting his job as the new coach of Rwanda, Josip Kuze has hit out at his employers over plans to field the U-20s in the national league. The Rwanda Football Federation (FRF) was hoping to field the national U-20 team in a domestic league this season.
However, Croatian-born Kuze told the FRF and the Sports Ministry that youth teams should not play league sides.
"This never happens any (else) where in the world," warned the former Dynamo Zagreb coach.
Professional advice
The Rwanda Ministry of Sports and the FRF had initiated the plan in a bid to keep the U-20 youngsters playing together while introducing them to competitive conditions.
Sports Minister Joseph Habineza was happy that the new coach had given them professional advice on this move.
"It is good he came in early enough (as) we were about to go ahead with the plan," said the Sports Minister.
Kuze stressed that having the U-20 side feature in the league would cause problems for the division's organisers, himself as national coach and the young players involved.
The 53-year-old coach will have his first serious assignment next month when Rwanda take part in the 2007 regional Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup in Tanzania.
Rwanda came third last year in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
