The RFF are looking for a replacement for Nees |
The Rwanda Football Federation (FRF) has parted ways with German coach Michael Nees after the team's failure to qualify for the 2008 Nations Cup finals in Ghana. The Amavubi Stars finished third in their qualifying group, nine points behind Cameroon.
The FA decided not to renew Nees' contract on the grounds that he had failed to perform in the year that he had been in charge.
"Nees was a patient and good coach, but he didn't achieve anything big with the team," said FRF president Brigadier General John Bosco Kazura.
"We shall soon advertise for the vacant post."
Nees signed a one-year contract last September, and he guided Rwanda to third place at the 2006 Cecafa Challenge Cup in Ethiopia.
Rwanda qualified for the 2004 Africa Nations Cup finals in Tunisia, but missed out on the 2006 edition.
