Caf has suspended the president of the Togo Football Federation |
The Confederation of African Football (Caf) has banned Adaglo Tata Avlessi, the former president of the Togo Football Federation (FTF), for life. Avlessi will no longer be allowed to participate in any 'football-related activities' or gain access to 'football stadiums'.
Avlessi's appeal was against a guilty verdict and 8-year-ban, given to him by Caf in July.
Caf said Avlessi had attempted to bribe a referee during a group match at the African U17 Championship, which Togo hosted in March.
Two match officials involved in the game were also disciplined because of their involvement in the incident.
Gambian match referee Pa Abdou Sarr was banned for life for accepting the alleged bribe.
Attivi Atevi Cessi, who was also a match official at the game, was suspended for four years for allegedly acting as a go-between for the two parties.
