Nonda has moved clubs in the search of more first-team football |
DR Congo striker Shabani Nonda has ended the speculation about his future by signing for Turkish giants Galatasaray. The 30-year-old, who spent last season on loan at English side Blackburn Rovers, signed a two-year contract and moves from Italian side AS Roma for an undisclosed fee.
Nonda was linked with moves to several European clubs but Galaratasaray were the only team to have met Roma's financial demands.
"We had to beat other tough competition to sign Nonda," Galatasaray general manager Adnan Sezgin told BBC Sport.
"He is a good addition to our squad and we are confident he will make an impact here."
'Pride'
Nonda is keen to impress in Turkey after spending the past two months improving on his fitness.
He scored seven goals in 29 Premier League appearances for Blackburn.
"I feel proud to play for such a great club," said Nonda.
"I couldn't get enough playing time at Roma and really wanted to come to Galatasaray."
Nonda played for Zurich, Rennes and Monaco before joining Roma in 2005.
He had an excellent scoring record in France, with 87 goals in 178 league appearances.
