Pfister has worked in African football for 25 years |
Former Togo boss Otto Pfister has signed a one-year contract with Sudanese club El Merreikh. The 68-year-old briefly walked out on Togo at the World Cup after a pay dispute involving the players, before returning amid much confusion.
"It's a great honour to have a coach with his knowledge," said El Merreikh vice-president Osman Kadeer.
Pfister reached a verbal agreement to stay with Togo until 2008, but did not sign a new contract.
"I signed a contract with El Merreikh which I intend to respect and will be back in Khartoum on 17 September to take full charge of the team," said Pfister, who is expected to receive a monthly salary of $US15,000 (8,000).
The two-time Saudi Arabia coach has worked in African football for 25 years, with spells in Zaire, Tunisia, Ghana and Egypt.
