Nigeria midfielder Jon Mikel Obi who moved to Chelsea in a US$29 million deal in June has been granted a work permit.

The deal ended a transfer dispute involving Manchester United and Norwegian club, Lyn Oslo.

The 19-year-old Mikel is one of four players to have moved to Stamford Bridge this season along with Michael Ballack, Andriy Shevchenko and Ivory Coast born Salomon Kalou.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, who has described the player as "fantastic", says he has great plans for the young Nigerian.

"We can teach him to be more complete, to defend better, and to get more intensity in the game," said Mourinho.

"He's bright in the way he thinks football, technically he's fantastic".
