Patrice Neveu will stay as Guinea coach |
Frenchman Patrice Neveu is to continue in his post as national coach of Guinea.
Neveu's contract was due to expire next month but the Guinea Football Association's secretary general, Fode Capi Camara has confirmed it will be extended.
"We are extending Neveu's contract to 2008 when we meet next month because we are satisfied with his performance," Camara said.
"We are going to give him the mandate to qualify Syli Nationale to the 2008 Nations Cup in Ghana."
The 52-year-old, who was recently linked with the Senegal coaching job says though he'd prefer to stay with Guinea, it would depend on the contract he's offered.
"I'd like to continue with Guinea and that will only happen if I like the contract I will be offered but I believe everything will be fine," Neveu told BBC Sport.
Neveu qualified Guinea to the last Nations Cup finals in Egypt and took the team on the quarter-final stage.
