Oruma doubtful for Rwanda tie
Nigeria and Sochaux midfielder Wilson Oruma
Nigeria midfielder Wilson Oruma's future with Sochaux is uncertain

Wilson Oruma has hinted he is likely to miss Nigeria's World Cup qualifier against Rwanda on 5 June to sort out his future with French club Sochaux .

The midfielder, who has not played competitive football for Nigeria since the 2002 Cup of Nations, was called up for the Group Four encounter in Kigali.

"I have received my invitation for the game but at the same time I have certain things here in France to clear and may therefore not be available for the match in Rwanda," Oruma said.

The midfielder's three-year contract at Sochaux has ended and he is not willing to renew it.

He has since been linked with several other top French clubs, including Olympique Marseille and Monaco.

"There is really nothing yet to report as regards where I'm going but I hope that I can have a good idea before long," he added.

"But I hope I can clear things up in time for the other game in Kano against Angola."

Nigeria host closest rivals Angola in the northern Nigeria city of Kano in another Group Four tie on 18 June.

The Super Eagles are likely to be without several top stars, including skipper Austin Jay Jay Okocha for the match against Rwanda's Wasps.

Many of the players have begged the authorities to be overlooked so that they can rest after a busy season with their European clubs.

The Super Eagles struggled to a 2-0 win in the corresponding fixture against Rwanda in Abuja last June, with a second-half double from Inter Milan striker Obafemi Martins.

With 13 points from six games, Nigeria lead Group Four with second-placed Angola two points adrift.

Third-placed Zimbabwe have eight points, Gabon and Algeria have six each while Rwanda, at the bottom of the group, have four.

The group winners qualify for the 2006 World Cup finals in Germany, while the top three will contest next year's Nations Cup finals in Egypt.
