Baxter is furious with the South African FA

South Africa coach Stuart Baxter has indicated that he may resign next week.

The Englishman told BBC Sport on Friday that he will be making his decision public after Bafana Bafana's friendly match against Senegal in the Mandela Challenge Cup on Saturday.

"I have made the decision on my future but I am not going to reveal it before the Mandela game," Baxter said.

"But immediately after the game I will make my decision public.

"I have spoken with them (the South African FA) and they know my feelings."

The 52-year-old said he was determined to see out his contract, which lasts until after the 2006 World Cup.

But Bafana Bafana failed to qualify for the World Cup after they were edged out by Ghana in Group B of the African qualifiers.

Baxter said his ability to produce results has been hampered by adverse working conditions.

"As a professional coach you hope your opinions and knowledge are respected," he said.

"If I make recommendations and plans which are totally ignored, that doesn't sound like they respect my knowledge and my integrity.

"The deterioration of my working environment, which I thought was far from professional, are the root of my concerns," Baxter added.
