Shabani Nonda is poised to return to the Democratic Republic of Congo line up next month for the first time in more than two years. Nonda has been included in a 27-man squad for a friendly against the Ivory Coast in Rouen, France on 8 February.
He last played for his country in an African Nations Cup qualifier against Botswana in 2002.
Nonda, who plays for French side Monaco, withdrew from the national team after criticising the running of the squad.
Coach Claude LeRoy has also called up defender Nzelo Lembi for the Ivorian clash.
Nzembi, employed by Kaiserslautern of the German Bundesliga, won the last of his seven caps almost eight years ago.
