Two men have been fined for racially abusing Samuel Eto'o Fils |
Two supporters of Spanish club Albacete are being fined for making monkey noises at Barcelona and Cameroon's Samuel Eto'o Fils. The US$8,200 fines were handed out on Thursday by Spain's national anti-violence commission.
The pair were also banned from sporting events for a period not exceeding five months, the commission said, adding that fellow suporters had pointed out the two men to police.
Eto'o was also the target of apparent racial abuse from Getafe fans during Barcelona's 2-1 win on 27 November, as yet no action has been taken in this case.
The latest fine follows a decision on Wednesday by Spain's Football Federation to open disciplinary proceedings against Spanish national team coach Luis Aragones after he made racist comments about Thierry Henry of France and Arsenal.
As well as a substantial fine Aragones could even lose his job over the comments he made in a training session in October to Henry's Arsenal teammate Jose Antonio Reyes.
