Bruce Grobbelaar is the new coach of South African side Umtata Bush Bucks |
Bruce Grobbelaar is to make a swift return to coaching in South Africa at the helm of struggling Umtata Bush Bucks. The former Zimbabwe goalkeeper is effectively replacing the former Nigeria coach Clemens Westerhof, who was sacked in October.
Grobbelaar is expected to be officially unveiled as the South African premier league club's new coach on Thursday.
However he told BBC Sport that he has been given the job and was travelling to East London to take up his duties.
"They have a good sponsors and there is the potential to do much with the side," Grobbelaar said.
"It is a young team but full of potential."
Grobbelaar watched his new charges draw 1-1 with Ajax Cape Town on Wednesday night.
Grobbelaar was dismissed last month after a brief spell at the helm of another struggling side, Manning Rangers, where he won just one of their first six matches at the start of the new season.
Bucks will be the sixth South African club that the former Liverpool goalkeeper has coached over the last four seasons.
The ex-Zimbabwean international will be the fourth coach for Bucks in 11 matches this year.
Assistant Nigel Dixon took charge of their first two games before the belated appointment of Westerhof, who was removed after one win in his five games at the helm.
The former Nigeria World Cup coach is now head of Bucks' youth academy.
Zimbabwean international defender William Mugeyi was caretaker coach of Bucks' last four games before the arrival of his compatriot Grobbelaar.
Grobbelaar's debut will be at the end of the month when Bucks next play in the league against high riding Moroka Swallows.
