Caf president Issa Hayatou has found a Confederation Cup sponsor |
African football's governing body, Caf, has signed a three-year sponsorship deal for the Confederation Cup.
International Sport Event, ISE, has been awarded the marketing and television rights from 2004 until 2007.
The newly-formed Confederation Cup is a merger of the old African Cup Winners' Cup and the Caf Cup.
The third round of the competition takes place this weekend with the eight winners of the knock-out ties going forward to the group stages.
The sponsorship deal was signed by Caf President Issa Hayatou and by Sheikh Saleh Kamel, the ISE Group president.
All eight sides who make it into the group stages will be given a share of US $500,000.
During the signing ceremony, Hayatou said: "We're really delighted now to have marketed our two club competitions and also to see the revenue going directly to the clubs."
Before this new sponsorship deal, only the Caf Champions League was generating financial revenue for the clubs.
