Esperance still top the standings

Second-placed Etoile Sportive Sahel are closing the gap on leaders Esperance, after a 2-1 victory over Sousse.

Esperance took the lead through their Brazilian-born defender Jose Clayton in the ninth minute.

Nigerian Ogochukwu Obiakor equalised for Etoile mid-way in the first half before Sami Gtari secured the three points from the penalty spot in the 55th minute.

Esperance's lead in the championship has now been cut to five points.

Club Africain are third after beating Union Sportive Monastir 3-1 in Tunis. They are six points adrift of Esperance.

With three games remaining to the end of the season, Esperance remain firm favourites to win their seventh consecutive title.

Leaders Petro Atletico came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with arch-rivals Primeiro Agosto in an enthralling derby on Sunday.

Both sides finished the game with 10 men after the expulsion of Petro's Flavio and Primeiro's Ze Augusto.

There was further drama as the referee added 10 minutes of stoppage time during which Petro scored the equaliser.

At the end of the first round of games, Petro lead with 28 points followed by Inter Clube with 26.

Title holders AS Aviacao are fourth with 25 points, while Primeiro Agosto are in sixth with 20 points.

Enyimba (in blue) are in managerial turmoil

The reigning African champions are currently seventh.

Diaraf lead with 41 points, after beating AS Saloum Kaolack 4-0.

AS Douanes, who have a game in hand, are in second place after beating Stade Mbour 2-0.

Douanes could overtake Diaraf if they beat defending champions Jeanne d'Arc in their outstanding game.

Although Jeanne d'Arc lost 1-0 at Ndiambour Louga, the surprise score of the round was the 3-0 home defeat of CS Sucrieres by Goree.

Raja are still within reach of the Moroccan championship

The stage is set for a nerve-wracking finish as only two points separate leaders FAR Rabat and Raja Casablanca.

The draw favoured Raja who thrashed Jeunesse Massira 3-0 in Casablanca.
