 USMA of Algeria lost to SuperSport United 2-0 in the Champions League |
Algeria's USMA lost any chance of reaching the Champions League semi-finals when they lost 2-0 to SuperSport United of South Africa on Sunday.
To reach the last four from Group B, the Algerian side had to win in Cape Town and hope that Jeanne d'Arc lost to Tunisia's Esperance in Dakar.
Instead, SuperSport United recorded their first win in the group stages while Jeanne d'Arc beat Esperance 2-1 to grab the semi-final spot.
The South African side's victory came thanks to goals from Tsweu Mokoro in the 77th minute and then Sibusiso Mahlangu just four minutes from time.
It means that Esperance finish top of Group B on 12 points, with Jeanne d'Arc just a point behind in second place.
USMA ended up in third spot with seven points, while SuperSport finished bottom of the group with four points.
