Okocha says the club must build on its gains |
Bolton Wanderers captain Austin 'Jay-Jay' Okocha says he is committed to making the club a permanent fixture in the English Premiership.
The Nigeria international signed a new three-year contract on Wednesday, which would keep him at the Lancashire club for five seasons.
"I am happy that I have been able to come to an agreement to extend my stay. My family has been happy living here, which made it an easier decision," Okocha told BBC Sport.

Okocha said he hopes that Bolton, which is experiencing its longest stint in the English top flight for 41 years, can consolidate on the achievements of the last two seasons.
"I know that there are some people that would be hoping that we could challenge for a Uefa Cup place next season but I think it is important that we do not aim for things that could stretch our resources.
"I think that we should try to better our performance this season and maybe we can begin to think of bigger things.
"We do not have the resources of the big clubs like Manchester United, so we must be very careful," the Nigeria captain said.
Earlier in the season, the 30-year-old player said he would like to end his career in the English Premiership.
Okocha, the current BBC African Footballer of the Year, is expected to lead the Super Eagles at the three-nation Unity Cup tournament in London, which starts on 29 May.
Nigeria will play against Jamaica and the Republic of Ireland at The Valley, Charlton Athletic's South London ground.
