Jay-Jay Okocha has committed his long-term future to Bolton Wanderers by signing a new three-year deal. The contract is subject to the Nigerian international obtaining a work permit.
"Securing Jay-Jay's services underlines this club's desire to compete in the upper reaches of the Premiership," Bolton boss Sam Allardyce told BBC GMR.
"His performances over the past two seasons have helped to fortify the name and reputation of Bolton. His signature is a marvellous boost for everybody."
Allardyce also quashed rumours that the 30-year-old would earn 7.5m over the next three years.
"Jay-Jay has signed a significant contract, but it astounds me where figures of 7.5m have come from. This is wide of the mark," said Allardyce.
Okocha initially arrived at the Reebok Stadium in the summer of 2002 after starring for Nigeria in the World Cup finals.
