Morocco's Raja Casablanca
Raja Casablanca are still chaing FAR Rabat in the Moroccan league
Morocco

FAR Rabat are six points clear at the top of the table despite being held to a 1-1 draw at home to Chabab Mohammedia.

Raja Casablanca wasted an opportunity to close in on the leaders as they drew two matches in a row.

On Sunday they drew 0-0 with Kawkab Marrakech after a 1-1 stalemate with the reigning champions Hassania Agadir who were the visitors on Thursday.

Raja are second with 43 points with just five games remaining this season.

Wydad Casablanca are joint third with CODM Meknes on 42 points. Wydad drew 0-0 with Jeunesse Massira in the first game under their new coach Mohamed Chahid.


Tunisia

Esperance, who played with 10-men, managed a 1-1 with arch-rivals Club Africain at the Rades Stadium on Sunday. Ivorian goalkeeper Jean-Jacques Tizie was sent-off for handling the ball outside the penalty area.

Both goals were scored in the first-half with Esperance taking the lead in the 32nd minute through Mourad Melki before Mohamed Selliti replied for Club Africain just before half-time.

In the Sousse derby, second-placed Etoile Sahel drew 1-1 with US Monastir.

Ten-man CS Sfaxien piled on the pressure in the fight for second place with a 2-0 win over CO Transport.

Defender Amir Haj Messaoud was sent-off in between the two goals. Libyan midfielder Tarek Ettayeb sealed win five minutes from time after Haykel Guemamdia had put them ahead in the 70th minute.

Sfaxien are fourth with 29 points, three behind Club Africain, who are third.


Algeria

JS Kabylie's title hopes were rescued by Congo's Wilfried Endzanga who scored a last minute equaliser in a 1-1 draw with ASO Chlef.

JS Kabylie remain three points clear from USMA at the top with just two games remaining in the season.

USMA stayed in the title hunt as they defeated USM Annaba 1-0, with a penalty scored by defender Mohamed Hamdoud.

Third place NA Hussein Dey defeated CR Belouizdad 2-1 but they are already out of the title race. CRB's defeat means the former champions have fallen closer to the relegation zone.


Egypt

Al Ahly cut Zamalek's lead to eight points with a 3-0 win over Ghazl Al Mahalla, bouncing back after their shock elimination in the African Champions League last month.

Al Ittihad from Alexandria remained third after a 1-1 draw at Al Masry where they needed a penalty from Mohamed Fadl to secure the point.


Nigeria

Enyimba players celebrating
Enyimba's players have had little to celebrate this season

African champions Enyimba suffered a sixth defeat this season on Saturday, losing 1-0 at El Kanemi Warriors to remain in the lower half of the 18-team premier league.

The top clubs were not in action at the weekend. Dolphins FC lead by six points from Kano Pillars, with Iwuanyanwu Nationale third.


Cameroon

Holders Cotonsport Garoua and Racing Bafoussam head their respective groups despite neither side winning this weekend.

Cotonsport played out a disappointing goalless draw with Sable Batie, who dominated the match.

Bafoussam, who finished their game with 10 men after the expulsion of Jean Mbida, lost 1-0 to Esperance Guider. Isaac Hele Hele scored the only goal of the game in the 58th minute.

However Bafoussam still lead group B with nine points ahead of Bamboutos who did not play at the weekend.

In the other group Cotonsport also maintain a nine point gap over Sable, who are second.


Ivory Coast

Ivory Coast's Asec Abidjan
Ivory Coast's Asec Abidjan are top of the league

Asec Abidjan have edged two points ahead of arch-rivals Africa Sports after beating Man FC 5-1.

Guinean striker Alhassan Koivogui scored a second-half hat-trick that was rounded off with an 85th minute penalty.

The two other goals were both scored in the second-half by striker Seydou Kone and Didier Ya Konan.

Africa Sports, who are second, could only manage a 1-1 draw with Stade Abidjan.


Zimbabwe

Caps United have extended their lead to seven points after beating Dynamos 2-1 in an away game despite playing with 10 men.

Caps played for much of the game without defender Silent Katumba who was shown the red card for a foul.

Leonard Tsipa and Ashley Muza scored for Caps, while Andrew Chifamba was on the score sheet for Dynamos.

Caps seven points gap was helped by second-placed Rail Stars only managing a draw at home. The top two sides clash in their next game.

Highlanders are in third sport after a 2-1 away win over Zimbabwe Saints 2-1, in a game that saw two sendings off.

Highlanders controversial winner came during five-minutes of stoppage time but the was further problems after the game when one of the assistant referees was assaulted.

Meanwhile, the country is once again mourning the death of some of its footballers following a road accident on Saturday night that claimed the lives of three members of first division side Golden Kopje.

The club's coach Maxwell Tandi, who was driving, died on Sunday morning, while team doctor Ishmael Horera and player Damian Muzavazi were killed instantly when their mini-bus crashed into a heavy truck.

It was the second road tragedy this season after Caps United lost three players and two supporters in March.


South Africa

Orlando Pirates won the only league match of the weekend, 2-0 at Black Leopards in Thohoyandou on Sunday.

Pirates are in sixth place with four matches left in the premier league season.


Zambia Power Dynamos won 3-1 at Nkana FC in the Copperbelt derby to stay top of the premier division on goal difference, with John Munkonje scoring twice.

National Assembly, also on 10 points, continued their surprisingly strong start to the season with a 2-1 win at army club Green Buffaloes.

Champions Zanaco, in their second match of the season, suffered a shock 2-0 loss at Red Arrows, international Songwe Chalwe scoring both.
