Claude Leroy is tipped to be the new coach of the DR Congo |
The Frenchman Claude Leroy has left the DR Congo without signing as their new coach. Leroy spent four days visit in the country's capital Kinshasa, where he met President Joseph Kabila, Sports Minister Omer Egwake as well as other football officials.
He has left with a copy of the contract and has said he wants to meet his lawyer before he signs it.
"I can't sign this contract on the day that I get it, because I need to assess it with my lawyer's help before I give it my seal of approval," he told the BBC Sport.
Leroy said that his visit was mainly aimed at finding out exactly what backing he can expect if he becomes the coach.

"I needed to get all necessary assurances that all country will be behind me and that there's the political will backing my efforts to build a strong team for the DR Congo.
"I am proud because President Joseph Kabila has pledged his personal support to me," he said.
However he has assured the FA executive that he will return to them hopefully with a signed contract within twelve days.
"Don't worry in two weeks time I'll come back to Kinshasa to start my job," he said.
Leroy, who has also spent time coaching Cameroon and Senegal, says that he has to sort out his current contract with a French television station.
The 57-year-old has been the favourite to take over from Englishman Mick Wadsworth, whose contract was not renewed after the Simbas were knocked out of the African Cup of Nations.
Leroy's first big task would be to get the DR Congo ready for their 2006 World Cup and African Cup of Nations qualifier in Group Two away to Uganda on 5 June.
South Africa, Burkina Faso, Ghana and Cape Verde will make up the rest of Group 2
